Zuccardi Finca Piedra Infinita

Only the dedicated will move a thousand trucks of stones to plant a vineyard; Zuccardi believed the land was worth it. This deep purple, high altitude, mountain Malbec shows blue and black fruit, bright acidity and gorgeous, ripe tannins. Still youthful, pair with roasted game but equally delicious with turkey.

Conquering the Stone: The Origin Story of Paraje Altamira Vineyard

The producers of Paraje Altamira region drew the border where the stones allowed them. This vineyard is an extraordinary place, with an even more impressive landscape. No one had put their hands to work on these lands before. They used to cultivate on the flattest and less stony areas, close to the town of La Consulta, because moving south and west meant venturing into the heart of the highest part of the alluvial fan of the Tunuyán River. It meant fighting against the stone.Zuccardi_Finca_Piedra_Infinita_2020_WBSS24_1

From Intuition to Dedication, Unraveling the Mysteries of Paraje Altamira's Unique Terroir

Zuccardi arrived there through intuition and driven by the awe-inspiring landscape. They faced that struggle with energy, but also with the humility of knowing that they were facing something infinite. They moved more than a thousand trucks of stones, to make room for their vines. This was the first step on a challenging path, because cultivating this vineyard involved studying, working, knowing each row, each stone. Tirelessly exploring its immense diversity to be able to interpret it through wine. Finca Piedra Infinita is a Malbec made from a careful selection of plots that grow on the shallower soils so abundant in this vineyard; it is a true mountain wine.

Tasting
NOTES

Deep purple colour suggests heavy extraction. The nose shows great finesse and moderate intensity. Flavours are marked by blue and black fruit notes, overripe in quality. The palate shows lovely freshness and bright acidity. The finish is long and focuses on blood orange and sour cherry, closing tightly with vibrant acidity. Gorgeous tannins, ripe but with exceptional grip. Still very young; worth waiting a few more years to enjoy at full potential.

Food
PAIRINGS

Probably best with roasted game bird served with a fruit based reduction, but equally delicious with roast turkey at Thanksgiving or Christmas.
