Founded by Carthusian monks in 1335, Karthäuserhof is a Ruwer icon whose monopole Karthäuserhofberg slate slope yields mineral, ageworthy rieslings. The 2023 Grosses Gewächs emphasizes precision and salinity.

The grapes in this bottling come mainly from the oldest plot in the Karthäuserhofberg called, Kronenberg, populated with 80 year old vines. Grapes are picked by hand, carefully brought to the cellar, briefly crunched and pressed. Fermentation takes place with natural yeasts partial in oak barrels and stainless steel. After fermentation the wine is matured on the lees for 12 months.
