Hailing from Portugal's Vinho Verde region, Soalheiro Granit 2024 is made from 100% alvarinho sourced from a selection of small vineyard plots planted in mineral-rich granitic soils. Living up to its name, it offers a pure expression of minerality with racy acid and a lick of sea salt, making it a perfect partner for seafood.

Soalheiro Granit

The Granit cuvée represents Soalheiro's most mineral-driven expression of alvarinho, crafted exclusively from high‑altitude vineyards rooted in granite soils. These sites, exposed to cooler temperatures and brisk Atlantic-influenced winds, yield grapes with pronounced acidity and a leaner fruit profile.

The 2024 Granit follows a strictly reductive, stainless‑steel‑only winemaking approach to preserve purity and emphasise linearity. Fermentation at low temperatures heightens aromatic precision, while extended ageing on fine lees adds refinement without weight. The resulting wine highlights the tension and salinity that define Melgaço's coolest terroirs.

Granit is conceived as a study in alvarinho's mineral backbone rather than opulence, offering citrus peel, wet‑stone character, and a long, chiselled finish. The 2024 release maintains the cuvée's reputation as one of Soalheiro's most focused expressions – an elegant, terroir‑driven interpretation with a highly gastronomic character.

Tasting
NOTES

A wine that speaks of its location, you can taste the sea spray in the glass of this intensely aromatic Vinho Verde, which is packed with notes of jasmine, citrus rind, kiwi fruit and granny smith apple. Pure, refreshing and well balanced, with high, well integrated acidity, the palate echoes the nose with tart citrus and floral flavours, along with a hint of hay and ripe banana. It finishes with a lingering lick of salt.

Food
PAIRINGS

Working well both as an apéritif and a partner for seafood, try this zippy Vinho Verde with moules frites, grilled cuttlefish, or an oyster tart with dill sour cream.
