Pago de Carraovejas has become one of Ribera del Duero's reference estates, known for combining precision viticulture with a pursuit of purity and texture. Founded in the late 1980s outside Peñafiel, the estate farms steep, limestone-rich slopes that lend tension and verticality to its wines.

The 2023 Pago de Carraovejas reflects the property's contemporary approach: meticulous parcel selection and a focus on extracting finesse rather than sheer power. Tempranillo remains the core of the blend, supported by cabernet and merlot, each vinified separately to preserve varietal character. Fermentation takes place in a mix of stainless steel and oak vats, followed by ageing in fine-grained French and American oak barrels, increasingly with a lighter toast profile to emphasise fruit purity. The resulting wine shows the estate's signature balance: ripe, sculpted fruit framed by supple tannins and a long, mineral-driven finish.
