Gurdau's Sekt aged 36 months on lees showcases the estate's commitment to traditional‑method sparkling wine rooted in Moravian terroir. Although not detailed in the public technical sheets, the estate's sparkling programme is built on the same principles applied to its riesling and veltliner: meticulous handwork, minimalist intervention and expression of Kurdějov's limestone soils and cool microclimate.
Grapes of each variety are fermented in stainless steel tanks separately before undergoing aging using the traditional Champagne bottle-ferment method, aging for a total of 26 months on the lees and disgorged in February 2025.
Extended lees ageing provides creamy autolytic notes, fine mousse and added depth while preserving the region's hallmark freshness. With its combination of texture, orchard fruit, mineral tension and savoury complexity, this Sekt represents the growing ambition of Czech sparkling wine and Gurdau's role as a leader in elevating Moravia's reputation for quality fizz.
Visitors to Gurdau can expect architectural splendor, with the winery designed by Aleš Fiala to integrate the area's natural terrain.
