Ceretto Barbaresco Asili 2014 hails from one of the most iconic sites in the Barbaresco DOCG – Asili – a low-yielding, multi-aspect site that offers a pure expression of both the land and the nebbiolo grape. An ode to blood orange, wild rose, black tea and sour cherry, enjoy it with wild boar.

Barbaresco Asili

Ceretto, a family estate rooted in the Langhe since the 1930s, is celebrated for its commitment to site‑specific nebbiolo and its pioneering acquisitions of top crus. The Asili vineyard in Barbaresco is one of the region's most esteemed sites, known for producing wines of finesse, lifted aromatics, and fine tannins.

Ceretto family estate

Ceretto farms the site organically and with increasing biodynamic influence, focusing on soil health and precise canopy management to enhance nebbiolo's expression. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel or wood, depending on vintage conditions, with macerations calibrated to extract gently and preserve elegance. Maturation in carefully selected large oak botti and smaller vessels builds complexity while allowing the vineyard's signature perfume to emerge. Ceretto's Asili bottling reflects the family's long‑standing dedication to capturing the individuality of each cru – delivering a Barbaresco that is graceful, detailed, and profoundly linked to its hillside origins.

Tasting
NOTES

This elegant Barbaresco is holding up nicely. On the nose it's an explosion of blood orange, dried cherries, plums, rose petals and spices alongside more savoury notes of charcuterie and black tea. The same earthy flavours are mirrored on the palate, which has a distinct umami character of sun dried tomatoes, mushrooms and sage. Offering a pure aromatic expression of the nebbiolo grape and a long finish, the firm tannins are balanced by lively acidity.

Food
PAIRINGS

Barbaresco makes a perfect partner for red meat. Try this aged expression with slow cooked lamb shank, Peking duck with hoisin, or wild boar with roasted mushrooms.
