Veuve Clicquot's La Grande Dame pays tribute to Madame Clicquot, the visionary who transformed the house in the early 19th century. Created to express the elegance of Pinot Noir from the estate's finest historic Grand Cru vineyards, La Grande Dame reflects the house's long-standing pursuit of depth and finesse.

The 2018 cuvée is composed predominantly of pinot noir, sourced from legendary sites including Verzenay, Verzy, Bouzy and Aÿ. Fermentation occurs in stainless steel, with ageing on lees for several years to build complexity and texture. Veuve Clicquot's hallmark is structure combined with vibrant precision – qualities amplified in La Grande Dame.

The result is a Champagne of tension, floral nuance and layered minerality. The 2018 release continues the house's legacy of crafting prestige cuvées that balance heritage with contemporary refinement.

Tasting
NOTES

The high percentage of pinot noir in the blend is evident on the nose, with its notes of white peach, apple and yellow fruit. On the palate the bubbles are very fine and the wine offers a beautiful balance of power and freshness. The fruit is ripe and chewy with lots of tension, while the acidity is lively and lifted, and the finish is long and saline with a hint of bitterness. A classic Champagne.
