Ruffino's Romitorio di Santedame comes from one of the estate's most atmospheric sites: a secluded vineyard in the heart of Chianti Classico, framed by woodland and the historic chapel of Santedame.
Founded in 1877, Ruffino has long championed Tuscany's native grapes, and this wine reflects that heritage through a sangiovese‑led blend rooted in high‑altitude, rocky soils. The vineyard's elevation and diurnal temperature swings give the fruit natural tension, allowing Ruffino to craft a style that balances richness with classical structure.

Fermentation takes place in stainless steel to preserve purity, followed by ageing in large-format oak to enhance texture while respecting varietal character. Romitorio di Santedame captures the estate's modern direction – wines that honour tradition but emphasise precision and site expression. The 2022 vintage shows bright cherry fruit, fine tannins and an elegant, mineral-driven finish shaped by one of Ruffino's most distinctive terroirs.
