Known in Bordeaux for the quality of its whites, Château Smith Haut Lafitte Blanc 2022 is made from 90% sauvignon blanc with a dash of sémillon and sauvignon gris. Celebrated for its elegance, complexity, and exceptional ageing potential, the wine's time in oak adds an opulence and depth to its citrus and floral freshness. Pair it with sole in a citrus beurre blanc.

Château Smith Haut Lafitte

A Grand Cru Classé estate in Pessac‑Léognan, Smith Haut Lafitte traces its origins to 1365 and gained its modern identity under the Cathiard family, who purchased it in 1990. Their tenure has seen significant investment in both vineyard and cellar, with a strong emphasis on biodiversity, organics (certified since 2019) and estate‑propagated vines.

Chateau Smith Haut Lafitte

The red wine is known for its balance of complexity, minerality and Graves' characteristic smoky elegance, grown on deep gravel soils that provide ideal drainage and heat reflection. The estate is now considered one of Bordeaux's leading modern success stories.

Tasting
NOTES

Offering aromas of white flowers, black currant leaf and confit lemon, you'll also find the classic sauvignon blanc notes of gooseberry, cut grass and elderflower in the mix. The palate echoes the nose, with its herbal element shining brightest. The acid is high and racy, providing freshness and intensity of flavour. A well balanced wine with the oak influence rounding out the aromatics and giving it a hint of vanilla and an opulent creamy finish.

Food
PAIRINGS

To harmonise with its herbal brightness, pair this Bordeaux blanc with grilled sea bream and white asparagus, or pan-fried sole with capers in a citrus beurre blanc.
