Meaning 'gold of the Tyrol', the teroldego grape is native to the Trentino-Alto Adige region in northern Italy and flourishes on the planes of Piana Rotaliana. Mezzacorona's Musivum Teroldego Rotaliano 2019 is a wonderful example of what the variety is capable of in the right hands with its ethereal combination of red fruits and spices. Enjoy it with a morel risotto.

Musivum Teroldego Rotaliano

Teroldego is a grape variety with a fascinating history which has its origins in the Trentino region, in particular on the renowned Piana Rotaliana.

Musivum Teroldego Rotaliano represents Mezzacorona's highest expression of the teroldego grape, sourced from the finest parcels of the Piana Rotaliana in Trentino.

The 2019 vintage reflects meticulous vineyard selection and careful hand‑harvesting, followed by fermentation designed to capture the grape's deep colour, vibrant fruit and natural elegance. Ageing in tailored combinations of oak allows complexity to develop while maintaining Teroldego's hallmark freshness.

Musivum highlights the terroir's gravelly, alluvial soils, which give the wine its characteristic precision and intensity. The 2019 bottling stands as a polished, expressive example of northern Italian red winemaking, demonstrating why teroldego is considered one of Trentino's noble native varieties.

Tasting
NOTES

Savoury, sanguine and supple, this ruby-hued northern Italian red kicks off with pretty ripe fruit aromas of cherry skins, red currants, black cherries and plums. There's an earthy wet soil and spicy undertone to it, which mingles with the crunchy tart fruit. On the palate spices like vanilla, cloves, black pepper and liquorice come to the fore, as do tobacco, coffee bean and cigar box. The tannins are rustic and firm, and the finish is long.

Food
PAIRINGS

An earthy wine is made for mushrooms, so try this teroldego with a morel and pancetta risotto, or a beef stew with a red wine sauce, ceps and creamy polenta.
