Bodega Puerta del Abra is a pioneering estate in the south of the province of Buenos Aires, founded in 2013 with the express mission of challenging Argentina's traditional vineyard map. Situated between the ancient Tandilia mountain ranges, formed roughly 2 billion years ago, and only around 50 km from the South Atlantic, the estate benefits from chalk‑rich soils, strong oceanic influence, and a cool, wind‑swept climate that slows ripening and preserves acidity.
The team undertook exhaustive soil and electroconductivity studies – guided by renowned terroir specialists Lydia and Claude Bourguignon – to understand the site's diverse calcareous profiles. The Chardonnay Velo de Flor incorporates innovative oxidative ageing techniques, taking inspiration from sherry, amplifying texture and complexity while retaining the region's hallmark Atlantic freshness.
