Quinta da Leda Red

Quinta da Leda represents Casa Ferreirinha's flagship estate in the Douro Superior, a warmer, drier zone known for producing some of Portugal's most complex reds. The vineyard's combination of schist soils, altitude variation, and strong continental influence yields low‑vigour vines with intensely flavoured fruit.

The blend, typically anchored by touriga nacional and touriga franca, is vinified in small batches, with careful extraction to highlight aromatic detail and structural precision. Maturation takes place in high‑quality French oak, often with a significant proportion of new barrels, to support the wine's density while enhancing finesse.

Quinta da Leda wines are known for their depth, dark fruit, and age‑worthy tannins, balanced by the freshness that characterises Casa Ferreirinha's style. This cuvée showcases the estate's ability to harness the power of the Douro Superior while maintaining elegance and clarity – a hallmark of one the region's most respected still‑wine producer.

Tasting
NOTES

Showcasing strength in restraint and poise, on the nose you'll find crunchy black fruit such as cassis, plums and black cherries that mingle with violets, Mediterranean herbs and sweet spices from the oak. Mouth-filling and full-bodied, on the palate the wine is fresh with plush tannins balanced out by bright acidity, and primary fruit concentration. Perfumed and structured, it's a wine made for food that will come into its own with more bottle age.
