Chile, Cachapoal Valley

2022

WBSS 2026 Crest Image

Crafted from grapes grown in Chile's Cachapoal Valley, 81% of the 2022 vintage is composed of carmenère, with cabernet sauvignon and syrah playing an important supporting role in the blend, which spends 20 months in French oak. The result is a plush red that marries sweet black fruit flavours with refreshing herbal notes. A joy with lamb.

La Piu Belle

La Piu Belle is named after the striking artwork created for its label and represents a more opulent, expressive side of VIK's winemaking.

VIK Cachapoal Valley 2026

Crafted from select plots of cabernet sauvignon, carmenère and syrah, the 2022 vintage reflects meticulous hand harvesting and small-lot vinification. Ageing in French oak adds depth and generosity. The wine showcases lush fruit, aromatic lift and a velvety palate, mirroring the artistic and architectural flair that defines the VIK estate.

La Piu Belle is both a creative statement and a testament to the estate's ability to craft expressive, sensual blends.

Tasting
NOTES

The carmenère component in the blend takes centre stage here with bell pepper aromatics alongside refreshing herbal notes of mint and eucalyptus, and sweet dark fruit flavours of blackberry, black cherry, blueberry compote and plum that are rounded out on the palate with sweet oak spices like vanilla and clove. There's a hint of smokiness, chocolate, balsamic and liquorice notes on the plush and rounded palate, which is supported by robust tannins.

Food
PAIRINGS

This is a wine that's crying out for lamb, either a grilled rack with mint sauce and piperade, or a lamb shank in a pistachio crust.
