The 2023 Estate Pinot Noir represents the complete mosaic of Lingua Franca's vineyard, blending fruit from ten distinct blocks to create the most comprehensive portrait of the site.
Winemaking is minimalist and precise: hand‑sorting, whole‑berry native fermentations in concrete and stainless steel, and ageing in predominantly neutral French oak to prioritise transparency. The fruit is sorted in the vineyard, handpicked, then wild-yeast fermented in medium sized concrete and stainless-steel tanks. This 2023 Estate has less than 2% whole cluster grapes, the least of any vintage. Punch downs are done by traditional pigeage. After fermentation, it is aged in a combination of 24% new and 76% old French oak barriques for 12 months and six months in tank.
The result is a wine of clarity, energy and structural elegance, showcasing the estate's volcanic soils and cool breezes. While approachable in youth, it unfolds gradually in the glass and will reward cellaring, evolving toward greater depth, spice and textural finesse over time.
