Pyros Wines is dedicated exclusively to expressing the high‑altitude terroirs of the Pedernal Valley in San Juan, one of Argentina's most distinctive and limestone‑rich regions. Vineyard Block No. 4 is a standout parcel, defined by rocky soils with high calcium carbonate content, which naturally limit yields and enhance tannin structure.

The Vineyard Block Nº4 Malbec is crafted to highlight the valley's signature tension and aromatic precision. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel with a focus on gentle extraction to preserve the grape's floral elements, followed by ageing in a combination of French oak barrels and larger casks to balance freshness with complexity. Pedernal Valley's diurnal temperature swings contribute to vibrant acidity and slow phenolic ripening.

This bottling delivers lifted violet aromatics, concentrated black fruit, and a chalky, linear palate – an expression that positions Pyros as a leading voice for San Juan's emerging cool‑climate identity.

Tasting
NOTES

Dialling up the jammy fruit, this deep purple, 100% malbec is redolent with red and black fruits: blackberries, black cherries, raspberries, sour plums, blueberries and cassis, which are repeated on the palate, which has an appealing smoky depth to it. An excellent expression of cool-climate malbec with a full body and refreshing acidity, the palate is packed with candied fruits and sweet spices along with a lick of limestone, while the tannins are well integrated.

Malbec needs meat and this cool climate expression would pair perfectly with beef short rib or grilled ribeye with charred bitter greens to bring out its smoky flavours.
