Made from a blend of touriga franca, touriga nacional, tinta roriz and tinta barroca, Sandeman Tawny Port 20 Years Old is aged in wooden casks at Sandeman's cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia. Brimming with salted caramel, dried figs, and toasted hazelnut flavours, serve this slightly chilled with a tarte tatin.

Sandeman, founded in 1790, is one of the most recognisable names in port, celebrated for its iconic Don cloaked figure and its pioneering role in establishing global distribution for Douro wines.

The 20 Years Old Tawny reflects centuries of expertise in blending aged stocks stored in Vila Nova de Gaia's cool, maritime-influenced lodges. Wines destined for this blend come from traditional Douro field blends and are aged in old oak casks, where slow oxidation develops flavours of dried fruit, caramel, citrus peel and toasted nuts.

Master blenders taste regularly to maintain Sandeman's signature balance of richness and freshness, ensuring the wine retains vibrancy despite decades of maturation. This expression offers a refined, silky texture and layered complexity, capturing the house's long-standing commitment to craftsmanship and its ability to harmonise tradition with consistency and precision.

NOTES

Amber in hue, the nose is intense with notes of hazelnuts, salted caramel, dried figs, toasted pine nuts, prunes and candied orange jumping out of the glass. The same notes are echoed on the sweet and luscious palate, along with dates, raisins, honey, sweet spices, brown sugar and lemon peel that counteracts the sweetness. It's a fresh and well-balanced wine with bright acidity, sweet toffee and caramel notes, and an extremely long, nutty finish.
