Designed to be enjoyed with an array of dishes both young and with a few years of age on it, Quinta do Vallado Reserva Branco 2024 is a blend of native Portuguese white grapes including gouveio from the Douro, known for its texture and viscosity, and fresher varieties arinto and rabigato. Try it with swordfish carpaccio.

Founded in 1716, Quinta do Vallado is one of the Douro's most historic estates and a pioneer of high‑quality dry wines in the region. Under the Ferreira family's stewardship, Vallado has embraced innovation, especially in its white wine programme sourced from higher‑altitude vineyards in the Douro Superior.

Vallado Reserva Branco

The Reserva Branco is built around viosinho, gouveio and rabigato, varieties well suited to the valley's bright days and cool nights. The 2024 vintage is fermented partly in stainless steel and partly in French oak barrels, with bâtonnage adding richness and structure. Vallado's white wines are known for combining Douro intensity with freshness – a balance achieved through careful vineyard management and precise picking dates. The Reserva showcases the estate's modern identity: elegant, mineral-driven whites that complement its celebrated red wines while highlighting the Douro's growing reputation for premium, ageworthy whites.

Tasting
NOTES

A crisp and bright wine with a backbone of freshness, on the nose you'll find citrus notes of lemon, lime and grapefruit, along with white peach, green apple, fennel and fresh herbs. There's also a strong mineral component with a lick of salt and sea spray coming through. The palate has an unctuousness that makes it a perfect wine for food. It expands and contracts as it plays across the palate, ending in a mineral finish.
