Sandeman Quinta do Seixo Vintage Port 2022 is crafted from grapes from the best plots within the 71ha Quinta do Seixo, one of the most emblematic estates in the Douro Valley. Made in the traditional way with barefoot treading, it tastes like liquid black forest gateau and would pair a treat with decadent chocolate desserts.

Quinta do Seixo, Sandeman's flagship Douro estate, sits high above the river with sweeping schist terraces that produce intensely concentrated fruit. Although Sandeman is one of the region's historic port houses, its work at Quinta do Seixo reflects a modern, terroir‑focused approach.

Vintage Port Quinta do Seixo

The 2022 Vintage Port is crafted from classic varieties such as touriga nacional, touriga franca and sousão, hand‑harvested and foot‑trodden in lagares to achieve ideal extraction. Fermentation is stopped with high-quality grape spirit before the wine is transferred to stainless steel to preserve its youthful vibrancy.

Quinta do Seixo's wines are celebrated for their purity, floral aromatics and fine-grained tannins – qualities shaped by altitude and mineral-rich schist soils. The 2022 release exemplifies Sandeman's blending of heritage with contemporary precision, offering depth, structure and long-term ageing potential.

NOTES

This vintage port is packed with dense fruit flavours: blackberries, black cherries, plums, prunes, raspberries and figs mixed with dark chocolate, espresso, liquorice and vanilla. On the palate it tastes like a liquid black forest gateau, with intense red and black berry flavours sharing a glass with dark chocolate, candied oranges and dried flowers. The palate is smooth and complex with a pleasant sweetness from the ripe fruit, good concentration, and a long finish.
