Created in 1997 as a joint venture between Baron Philippe de Rothschild and Concha y Toro, Almaviva was conceived to transport the Bordeaux First Growth model into Puente Alto's exceptional terroir. The estate works primarily with Cabernet Sauvignon, supported by Carménère, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot from alluvial, gravel‑rich soils at the foot of the Andes.
Precision viticulture includes massal‑selection vines, deficit irrigation, and parcel‑by‑parcel canopy management. The winemaking philosophy focuses on preserving Puente Alto's hallmark graphite tannins, linear acidity, and aromatic purity while delivering Pauillac‑like structure.
